Proposed Content Streams
Homelessness Prevention Practices: This stream will discuss effective practices, examples, and approaches for the prevention and reduction of homelessness in rural and remote Canada. This will also include strategies for keeping people housed.
Collaborative Solutions Between Urban and Rural Canada: This stream will focus on how urban and rural service agencies and housing providers can connect, collaborate and integrate their work in order to end homelessness and provide housing everywhere.
Mental Health and Addictions Solutions in Homelessness and Housing: This stream will highlight psychological, social and health-based innovations to address challenges such as substance abuse and mental health issues, and promote overall physical and mental wellbeing.
Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Affordable Housing: This stream will feature innovative approaches to creating financially and environmentally sustainable housing and shelter in rural and remote communities.
Innovative Solutions: This stream will explore innovative solutions and approaches to address homelessness and a shortage of affordable housing.
Research and Policy: This stream will look at existing research on housing and homelessness to inform better decision making, policy, and funding decisions.
Indigenous Homelessness and Housing: This stream will delve into challenges and solutions around homelessness and housing in Indigenous communities.
The North: This stream will examine challenges and solutions that may be unique to the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, as well as remote communities in the northern parts of the Provinces.
Engaging Government and Funders: This stream will discuss strategies to effectively engage government and funders.
